Why SF bachata dancers come to Dance Fridays
San Francisco's bachata scene used to be scattered across small socials. Dance Fridays brought it under one roof — a real bachata room, real sound, and a crowd big enough that you'll always find a partner at your level.
The DJs mix modern sensual bachata (Romeo, Prince Royce, Daniel Santacruz) with authentic Dominican bachata, plus the bachata classics every dancer learns to lead and follow first.
Sensual vs Dominican — both, every Friday
Whether you trained in sensual bachata with body waves and slow turns, or you prefer the upbeat footwork-driven Dominican style, you'll hear both. Our DJs cycle through the styles instead of locking you into one — so the room stays musical and the floor stays full.
Brand new to bachata?
The free beginner bachata lesson covers the basic step, the side-to-side, and a simple turn — enough to enjoy a full social set when open dancing starts at 9:30 PM. No partner required; we rotate partners during class so everyone gets reps with different leads and follows.
